A Creative Women’s Retreat

Join us this Spring for a rejuvenating and restorative three-day, two-night retreat in the glorious spring of the Shawangunk Mountains. For every woman who has had a relationship with mothering, be it as one herself, or having one, or wanting one, this retreat is an opportunity to turn a loving and nurturing gaze inward. We will gather at our retreat home base, the Cozy Cragsmoor Cottage, with additional housing options, for a creative, community building weekend full of delicious meals, gentle movement, supportive therapeutic workshops and art making. Open to any and all who identify as a caretaker.

Join us in for a gently nurturing weekend full of rest, reflection, fun and community, getting to know, and taking care of, your internal mother.
Where: The retreat cottage is on several acres in the tiny mountain artist Hamlet of Cragsmoor. The cottage hosts 6 women and neighboring house has private rooms for several more. Nearby attractions include Dharmakaya meditation and wellness center, Bear Hill Preserve, and Sam’s Point (a popular hiking destination).
Retreat is a 90 minute drive from the George Washington Bridge
Who: Limited to 8 wonderful women from all walks of life. We invite all female-identifying folk of all ages and backgrounds. The group is richer and better with YOU!
When: Friday, May 10th through Sunday, May 12, 2024. Programming starts the early evening of the 10th, and concludes the afternoon of the 12th.

We believe all of us hold the love and ability to nurture in our bones! It doesn’t matter if you identify as a mother, only that you set the intention to take care of your internal mother and let yourself be taken care of for a weekend.
As Creative Arts Therapists, we believe that creative expression is another ‘way in’ to understanding ourselves and others. This retreat is intended to be inspiring and encourage self-reflection. All you have to do is show up!

This retreat starts at $575 for a shared room and go up to $700 for private King room. This price includes all meals, activities, workshops, and accommodations. Transportation to and from the retreat site is not included but we do our best to connect folks who are driving in a carpool. If you need to take a train or bus to nearby towns, we may be able to arrange a pick up for a nominal fee ($25 pp).

The retreat includes:
Two nights lodging at retreat cottage site
2.5 days of retreat programming including creative arts therapy workshops, art making and supplies, daily hikes or walks, gentle yoga, guided meditations, rest, relaxation, fun, community building and MORE
All meals (evening farm-to-table dinner, ‘DIY’ lunch options, daily brunch, healthy snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic)

Absolutely! We welcome solo travelers, with the intention of connecting and building community from each special cohort. And you arw also welcome to bring a friend or loved on if that feels right for you! When you join a CWR retreat, you are joining a new and unique group of women and will undoubtedly form meaingful and lasting friendships.

This retreat is open to local folks as well as to those who may be traveling from the city or further away. Commuter options (those who join for everything but lodging) is available for $400.
We try our best to connect driving folks for a carpool; there is also a train that arrives in nearby Middletown (25 minutes away) or a bus that goes to Ellenville (10 minute away). We are happy to arrange pick ups from these locations for a nominal fee.

Each CWR retreat is designed to support the needs and desires of our cohort, so this is a sample schedule of what we might offer that is flexible and subject to change. ALL activities are optional. This time is yours!
8am: morning meditation
9am: open breakfast & coffee
10am -12pm: Group workshop I, reflection, creative exercises
12-1pm: outdoor partner/solo activity from workshop prompt
1-2pm: picnic lunch
2-5pm: open time for hiking, exploring, art making, rest/relaxation, gentle nature walks, bonding, or journaling
5-6pm: gentle yoga and/or meditation
6-7:30pm: gourmet group dinner
7:30 - 9pm evening workshop II followed by bonfire!
9-10pm evening rest/reflection time

Springtime in the Catskills can bring unpredictable weather. Be prepared to bring the things you need three days including:
Layers work well for differing temperatures throughout the day
sturdy shoes for walking on dirt/gravel paths and for playing pickle ball
comfy clothes for lounging and for outside time
any medications you need on hand
journal and writing supplies
portable art materials (we will supply the majority)
water bottle
anything you need to feel comfortable - just reach out!
What to leave? Technology! While we won’t deny you the wifi password, consider unplugging for a day or two.

Due to the intimate nature of these retreats, we are not able to offer full refunds should something arise between registration and the retreat date, except within 24 hours of registration. If you need to cancel before April 26th, we can offer 50% refund. After April 26th, we can apply 50% of the cost to a future retreat.
In the case of a weather or host-related health cancellation, attendees will have the option of a refund or applying the balance to a future retreat.
